Splat Lab

Film a room. Walk inside it.

Splat Lab turns a slow walk around a room, filmed with your iPhone, into a 3D Gaussian splat. Then you step inside it in first person, and take it with you as SPZ, PLY or OBJ.

Three steps, one room

01

Film

Walk slowly around the room with your iPhone. ARKit tracks the camera for every frame, so no LiDAR is needed, and blurry frames are left out.

02

Train

You choose where the splat is trained: on the iPhone itself, offline; on your own Mac with the free Splat Lab Station, over your Wi-Fi; or on the free cloud GPU of your own Kaggle account.

03

Step inside

Walk through your room in first person, with the floor and walls as collisions. Export it as SPZ, PLY or an OBJ collision mesh, through Files or the share sheet.

3 places

to train it, your call: your iPhone, your Mac or your own Kaggle account. We run no server: your capture only goes where you send it.

Your room stays yours

No account

No sign-up, no email, no password. Open Splat Lab and start filming.

Files you can see

Captures, splats and exports live in the app's folder on your iPhone, visible in the Files app. They leave the phone only if you pick your Mac or your Kaggle account.

Free, nothing locked

No ads, every feature included. If you like it, buy the lab a coffee, once or every month. It is optional and unlocks no feature.

Questions

Do I need an iPhone with LiDAR?

No. Splat Lab uses the camera and ARKit's motion tracking, which work on iPhones without a LiDAR sensor.

Is it free?

Yes. Splat Lab is free, with no ads, and no feature is locked. You can leave an optional tip, or support it monthly for a few cosmetic extras (supporter app icons and a badge).

Where does the training run?

Where you choose, for each scene: on the iPhone itself (offline, nothing leaves the phone); on your own Mac with the free companion Splat Lab Station, over your local Wi-Fi after pairing with a 6-digit code; or on your own Kaggle account, which gives a free cloud GPU.

How does training on Kaggle work?

You paste your own Kaggle API token once; it stays in your iPhone's Keychain. Splat Lab uploads the capture to your Kaggle account as a private dataset, runs a private notebook there, downloads the finished splat, then deletes the dataset and the notebook. You can close the app while Kaggle trains: you get a notification when it is ready and Splat Lab fetches the result when you come back. Kaggle's own quotas and terms apply.

What can I export?

SPZ (a compact splat), PLY (the common splat format) and OBJ (the collision mesh: floor and walls). Exports are saved in the app's folder in Files and can be sent anywhere with the share sheet.

What is a Gaussian splat?

A 3D scene made of many small, soft, coloured blobs, optimised from your video frames so that the room looks real from new angles. It is what lets you walk inside a place you filmed.

Does Splat Lab collect my data?

Your captures, splats and exports never reach us. The app sends anonymous usage statistics (for example: a training finished, and where it ran) so we can improve it, and you can switch them off in Settings. Details are in the privacy policy.
